ABOUT:

"Sàpiens" is a Catalan magazine about historical dissemination.

This illustration was made for the "Mythology For Profanes" section, in which each month the magazine talks about a mythological character from history. The title of the article was "Narcissus sons" written by Antoni Janer Torrens.

In this case the article was about Narcissus and its myth. Narcissus, in Greek mythology, was a young man of extraordinary beauty who, according to myth, fell in love with his own reflection when he saw it in a pond. Unable to tear himself away, he died consumed by his obsession, and on the spot where he died grew a flower that bears his name, the narcissus.

For the illustration I drew Narcissus half human half sculpture. It has a smartphone instead of a mirror. From its cracks thousand of narcissus flowers are blooming.
