Lucrecia Borgia was one of the most important members of the Borgia family. Born in 1480, her life was always marked by the wishes of her father, which she tried to oppose.
There are few visual references of her, but in the Ambrosiana art gallery (Milan) a real lock of golden hair of Lucrecia can be found inside a reliquary made of bronze and malachites. She gave this lock of hair to Pietro Bembo and over centuries it has been preserved until today.
It is said that the spirit of Lucrecia appears every November 1 through the corridors of the art gallery, looking for her lock of hair. Once she finds it, she combs it like she did in life, and that's why it is preserved in such good conditions.
As it is really difficult to find images of her, I pay tribute to Lucrecia Borgia and her most valued treasure with these illustrations.
